I tried to kill myself in August of 2013. I woke up one morning with the new-found knowledge of how to tie a proper noose. I’ve had a proverbial rope of regret, failure, unrequited love, rejection, and disappointment weighing heavy around my neck for years. Mostly due to my own shortcomings and terrible decision making. So I figured I’d will it into physical fruition; and so I did. I woke up that morning thinking that I’d never see another sunrise. So, I got up extra early and packed my now tangible reminder of self-loathing and hatred into my car and I drove. I drove to the highest point on Lookout Mount

I find it quite telling that seeds are the metaphorical equivalent of a "beginning." The pre-birth of all things. The idea. And, how very appropriate that sunflowers are so wonderfully unique and beautiful, so lovely in both color and odd shape. It is the sunflower seed that we devour; At sporting events; In trucks. We spit their lifeless shells onto the ground, or into cups that we may or may not discard in the future. We devour and defile the potential. How salty, and wonderful the seeds taste.

Who?

Who meets my expectations? Very few, dare I say none of my friends. None of them are open to me, they all push me away. I get close to them, share myself with them, they start to do the same, then push me away. Hmm? So, I get more and more friendly with them, but it's only to a point. When I want to continue growing in friendship, they stop dead in their tracks. Stop sharing. Stop growing. "Where are you going?"="Out." Wowzer, I guess they really don't trust me. Or they're ashamed of what they're doing. And, apparently, everyone does this and I'm the crazy one for expecting total honesty. Are my expectations too great? Do i require too
